From October 22 to October 24, 2021, Sichuan Weeyu Electric launched a three-day BEV high-altitude self-driving challenge. This trip selected two BEV, Hongqi E-HS9 and BYD Song, with a total mileage of 948km. They passed through three DC charging stations manufactured by Weeyu Electric for third-party operators and charged for supplementary charging. The main purpose was to visit the charging stations and test the charging speed of DC charging piles in high altitude areas.
In the whole long-distance high-altitude challenge, despite the operation errors of inserting and removing the charging gun, the fluctuation of peak electricity price and the congestion of 7 hours, the electric car has a stable endurance, and the charging speed of the three charging stations of Weeyu charging pile has maintained between 60 and 80kW. Thanks to the high power output without charging queue and stable charging pile, each recharge time of the two trams is controlled within 30-45 minutes.
The first DC charging station that Weeyu team arrived at was located in Yanmenguan Service Area of Wenchuan. There are altogether 5 charging piles in this charging station, and each charging pile is equipped with 2 charging guns with rated output power of 120kW(60kW for each gun), which can provide charging service for 10 electric vehicles at the same time. The charging station is also the first in Aba prefecture by the Aba Branch of State Grid Corporation of China. When Weeyu team arrived at the scene around 11 a.m., there were already six or seven BEV charging, including overseas brands like BMW and Tesla, as well as local Chinese brands like Nio and Wuling.
The DC charging station located in the Visitor Center of Songpan Ancient City Wall is the second stop of Weeyu team. There are eight charging piles, each equipped with two charging guns, with a rated output power of 120kW(60kW for each gun), which can provide charging service for 16 electric vehicles at the same time. Located in the tourist center, the DC charging station has a large number of new energy electric buses charging here and is the busiest of the three charging stations. In addition to buses and vehicles from Sichuan province, a tesla model3 with Liaoning license(Northeast of China) plates was also charging there when the team arrived.
The last stop of the tour is the Jiuzhaigou Hilton charging station. There are five charging piles, each equipped with two charging guns with a rated output power of 120kW(60kW for each gun), which can provide charging service for 10 electric vehicles at the same time. It is worth mentioning that this charging station is a photovoltaic integrated charging station. A large number of solar panels are laid above the charging station for partial power supply of the charging station, and the insufficient part is supplemented by the power grid.
At present, Weeyu has recruited software and hardware engineers from its parent company Yingjie Electric to join the r&d team to accelerate the development and commissioning of DC charging piles for the European and American markets, and it is expected to be put into the overseas market in early 2022.
