According to the data released by the China Passenger Car Association, retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles reached 486,000 units in July, up 117.3% year-on-year and down 8.5% sequentially. 2.733 million new energy passenger vehicles were retailed domestically from January to July, up 121.5% year-on-year.

The best seller of the electric car in July went to the BYD Song, with the Hong Kong MINI coming in second and the Tesla Model Y falling out of the top 10. In addition, sales of BYD Qin models also exceeded 30,000 units in July, while both BYD Han and Dolphin vehicles sold more than 20,000 units. Others, including BYD Yuan PLUS and EAN Aion Y, also achieved relatively bright results in July.

Top 1: BYD SONG -July sales: 37,784 units

In July, 37,784 units of BYD Song were sold, up 19% from the previous month and 309.5% year-on-year. from January to July, the cumulative sales of BYD Song reached 196,852 units, up 661.2% year-on-year.

After topping the new energy SUV sales chart for two consecutive months in April and May this year, BYD Song topped the list again in July with absolute strength, with sales exceeding the sum of Yuan PLUS and Aion Y, which ranked second. According to data released by BYD, the Song family's cumulative sales have exceeded 1.25 million units by July, with Song DM series sales up 355.3% year-on-year in July.

Top 2: WULING Hongguang MINI EV -July sales: 37,128 units

In July, 37,128 units of the Hongguang MINI were sold, down 6.7% year-on-year and up 20.9% year-on-year, taking the top spot in the new energy sedan sales list in July and ranking second in the overall sales ranking. 225,781 units of the Hongguang MINI were sold from January to July, up 19.7% year-on-year and ranking first in cumulative sales of individual vehicles.

According to data released by SAIC-GM-Wuling, its new energy vehicle sales reached 59,288 units in July, up 117% year-on-year; overseas exports reached 19,739 units, up 50% year-on-year. As of August 8 this year, Wuling's new energy sales have exceeded one million units, making it the fastest car company in the world to reach one million new energy sales.

Top 3: BYD Qin -July sales: 33,933 units

From January to July, BYD Qin's cumulative sales reached 180,423 units, up 218.6% year-on-year.

It is worth noting that in the first half of this year, BYD Qin sales reached more than 20,000 units in six consecutive months, and in July it exceeded 30,000 units, truly "welded" in the first position in the new energy A-class car market.

Top 4: BYD Han- July sales: 25,270 units

From January to July, BYD Han's cumulative sales reached 122,220 units, up 102.3% year-on-year and ranking fourth on the overall list.

Specifically, 12,837 BYD Han EV models and 12,433 Han DM models were sold in July. In the two years since its launch, the cumulative sales of BYD Han have exceeded 280,000 units in its history. In addition, over the past six months, Han family sales have continued to climb and have been ranked the number one seller in the mid-size sedan market for four consecutive months.

It is also worth noting that in July, the BYD Seal model was officially launched, priced at 20.98-286,800 yuan. There is some overlap in price with the BYD Han, but the audience groups are different, with the Seal placing more emphasis on sportiness. According to BYD, at the time of the Seal's launch, its order book had reached 80,000 units, and it will be interesting to see whether it will form an in-volume with the Han in the future.

Top 5: BYD Dolphin - July sales: 20,493 units

In June, BYD Dolphin sales exceeded 20,000 units for the first time, a 99.3% increase over June, jumping to the fourth place in the new energy sedan sales list. 78,756 Dolphins were sold at retail from January to July.

Since its launch in August 2021, Dolphin has sold over 100,000 units cumulatively, making it the fastest model in the 100,000 pure electric market to reach this achievement.
